As far as the 9400 cd, I could not describe you for sure, but you won't hurt your machine by trying.
Your best bet is to walk to dell's site and enter the asset tag# (from the bottom of the unit) and it will provide you a list of appropriate drivers.
It is not singular for there to be a couple of different drivers (1 for realtek, 1 for intel, etc...).
Download the drivers on another PC and copy them to a jumpdrive.
Take the jumpdrive to your laptop and try respectively driver, and the one for your hardware will install.
Very easy fix any way.
