near or without the ac cable (i suppose thats what its called) it does nothing. i hold down the power button and no lights come on. its not mine its a co-workers, it only just stopped working about a week ago. its a compaq presario v4000. we are so not computer smart so if anyone know whats up then backing!

check whethere there are any lights on when the power cable is plugged. if try out with a different outlet. If you see some lights, afterwards there is no battery-operated in you laptop. make available sometime for it to charge and try to start your laptop. this should work 4u. if the lights wont turn on even after changing the power outlet afterwards the power coil might have adjectives out. you should try using a different adaptor. even if its not working later theres a probelm with the power box within the laptop itself. in this defence through it out of the window.
motionless battery if the laptop feathery doesn turn on.
if the ac cable light doesn turn on - it must hav burned out thru excessive use and prolonged use and turned imperfect. need a hot ac cable i think try afterwards. if not later the connector point might be busted.

if you get a warranty, I would send it rear legs. Its probably an internal fuse.
