Macintosh V PC --will my mp3 player work and should that business?

I am choosing a laptop to appropriate to college with me subsequent year, and it has be a difficult decision becasue I've have a pc at home for the recent past few years, but before that I have a mac and i've missed it ever since. I had almost clearly decided on a mac until I realize my creative Zen microphoto MP3 player is not technically supported on Apples. has anyone worked next to creative mp3 players on macs? and do you think I should reassess my decision of late based on this?

Answer:

I devise it should, it just wouldn't work indistinguishable way as an iPod. I have a sandisk mp3 player before my iPod and what would appear when I plugged it in is that a white statue would appear on the desktop and say SANDISK underneath it. Then I have to drag songs from iTunes to it and it put them on the mp3 player. I don't know if it'd be the same near yours, but you could just budge to an Apple store, or a comp. USA or something and try plugging it in. If an god appears on the desktop, that means it works.

Macintosh PowerBook G3 Startup Disk Problem?

Hi adjectives, I have a G3 233 Wallstreet that usually works great however I installed 10.1 on it a while rear legs and before afterwards the battery be dead, so I kept it plugged surrounded by, well the powerwent out and it forget the startup disk, shows the flashing interview mark. I can't find the 10.1 disk but hold OS 8, the original copy on the HD, save on my PowerMac G4. How could I copy this over so that the Mac would boot OS 8? Thanks.

Answer:

I'm sure you know this, but the ? means there's a problem near the OS, usually no OS, or something missing. As far as I know, you can't create a copy of an OS to put on another computer, you need the artistic cds/dvd to install it. But if your most recent OS is 10.1, I recommend to get a more recent reworked copy, it'd run a lot better. Or you could ask for Linux cds, some linux distributers afford them out for free, so that's another option. But I don't guess you can copy the OS from one computer to another, because it doesn't have the installer of the OS.

Macbook: Apple Retail Store vs. Online?

This is a totally paranoid request for information, but I am in the final stages of select the Macbook for college, and wondering if there's any difference in buying the Macbook contained by store and opening it forthwith (with the ipod and printer discounts) or ordering it online.

Do the retail stores do customizations...articulate like, varying 1GB Memory to 2GB Memory...(which is what I'm planning on doing with the 13in white macbook)

Would in attendance be any difference? Maybe the Macbooks in the Apple Store might not be as up to date? Or is that skewed reasoning? Any benefits of any choice?

Answer:

I think you should move about with online. In my evaluation they have much better offer and you can customize any way you want and if you get any questions you can phone call or have an online chat.

Your computer is running Tiger. You can find out by clicking the Apple icon surrounded by the upper left corner of your blind (it's blue), and when you click on About This Mac it will tell you the exact reworked copy you're running. I hope that helps.
Click the Apple logo within the very top disappeared corner, pick About This Mac. The dialog will tell you.

Answer:

Go to System Preferences > Energy Saver to adjust the settings.

I would in fact suggest you switch to VLC media player. When you use VLC to keep under surveillance your movies in fullscreen mode, the peak saver and other display settings are temporarily disabled.

MacBook RAM Upgrade... unsure of compatibility.?

To upgrade my MacBook RAM, do I own to use 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM, or can I use something else that's faster? The new MacBook Pro's enjoy faster, better RAM. Can I use that in a MacBook (Black) 2.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo?

Answer:

Ignore the other user that said you hold to buy RAM from a mac store. According to www.crucial.com, all current macbooks and pros use equal ram. I only just checked apple.com and checked the specs confirming that all macbooks and pros use alike ram. The pro's only just hold more.
Take your MacBook to the Apple store where you'll hold to purchase the RAM anyhow, and let them share you what you can/cannot use. Some computers can't handle larger/faster knock against even though it seems to be compatible. It also depends on your processor. Let the Apple experts recommend you.

Macbook interrogate?

i get a new macbook and i am trying to put a dvd into it. but when i put it surrounded by and just eject it. any help?

Answer:

All MacBooks can read DVD's. The installation disc that comes next to Macs are on DVD's for example.

The lowest end MacBook have a Combo-Drive, which reads DVD and compact disc, but can only burn a compact disc.

That being implied, there's a few reasons why your movie might be getting ejected.

1. The disc might be worn out in some method, scratched, or very smuged or dirty and the drive can't read it, so it eject.

2. You put the disc in, generate sure you're not hitting the arrow looking key that eject discs. Usually found in the upper right of the grand piano.

3. Do a permissions repair. Open up Disc Utility, click once on the hard drive nominated on the left of the skylight, and click repair permissions. That might sort things out.

4. The drive might be faulty.
what category of dvd? a movie or a blank? and are you putting it label side up?
never see that, sorry...
Well if you bought a Macbook without a Superdrive and it freshly has disc player in it, it would eject the DVD. The other approach would be if it is a defective DVD and not in a format that the computer recognize.
