i own a compaq presario 2500, snd im using it since 2003 or 2004 not really sure. i do use it a lot and for so various continuous hours. a while ago it started to get hot and hotter faster than up to that time its like 30 minutes to 1 hour and it really starts self hot i cant touch it for a long time and the hotness i think is comming from the strike and the cpu.

it gets hot after a short while when turning on the laptop

Answer:

if you've have it for a while and haven't cleaned it out then I suggest you do so... dust will build up surrounded by the laptop fins preventing airflow and the fans do wear out so you entail to ensure they're still spinning. If you don't have the dexterity to run the laptop apart, put it in for service. Also check (see if it's newly a processor thing) the task examiner and make sure it's not only just hanging out at 100% processor usage (which can occur when a patch doesn't take or you enjoy a run-away process) and just bloodbath your computer. I recommend reloading windows every 2 years as there's adequate changes that step on with topical software being added, mature software being removed, patch and updates and everything clogging up things that it's easier to just reload it every once within a while which will speed things up and keep things lean (no files which aren't self used... taking up space).
A vent might be blocked! I strongly recommend you to see a technician.
get a cooling wad from targus.
get an nouns duster can and spray all of the vent and fans to ensure no dust is within the way, if you at home using it, walk get a laptop cooling plate, set your laptop on it and it should run cooler.
