I would close to to recommend you this site, http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-7602_7-1016... it's a laptop buying guide site by CNET.

The CNET editors' guide to laptops clues you in to what you obligation to know, from finding the type of notebook that fits your lifestyle to all of the hottest trends.

It will help answer these question:

1. What kind of laptop is right for me?

2. How do I find the right fit?

3. What are my cpu, eyeshade, and memory options?

4. What types of drives do I have need of?

5. What do I need to stay connected?

6. What bits and pieces do I need?

Hopefully this will give support to you.
