Ive emailed the dell technician already and im awaiting a reply but my warrenty has already expired so i foreboding i wont get much assistance. my laptop is a dell inspiron 6000
Answer:
When you power ON, try going to BIOS (press F1 or Del). If you could get to BIOS blind, your motherboard is OK. Your trouble could be with your firm drive or your OS is corrupted.
If going to BIOS was OK, try this repair for Win XP. You involve your Windows CD.

If above procedure fail early, your knotty drive may have erstwhile. Have it replaced.
are you sure you didnt boot up in safe and sound mode if so that function 8.
I have a most wonderful dell inspiron 6000 I am replying to you near it - I have never hear of doing such a thing beside a laptop - it is out of warranty unfortunately so to catch help from dell you will probably enjoy to give them money - the motherboard is fluctuating but you have to own the service manual to do that effectively - it is available from dell as a free download and I own it and am gonna upgrade some things like my video card - I want you the best of luck with your laptop - this is a great device
Hmm.. Are you 120% sure its the motherboard? It could be the memory... Dell computers ALWAYS have problems near memory.. where the memory will dance bad and the cpu wont boot or you will return with this weird blue peak (Not windows blue blind of death).. Post some more Info about it so that style i can help you further.
