Laptop internet interview?

I enjoy a acer aspire 5000 and when we first got wireless I get 54mbps a couple of weeks ago I started getting only 18mbps something 1.0mbps I put a different laptop subsequent to it to see if it was the router and the other laptop get 54mbps I restored the computer back to factory specs to see if it be a software issue and it didn't help does anyone own any ideas to what it might be

Answer:

Your internet nouns speed will never hit 54 mbps (or 18 mbps for that matter) so why worry almost it?

The speed that is shown is your net speed, not your download speed.

It shows how much information COULD pass between your modem and laptop. It does not show how much information is anyone sent to your modem from the www.

Otherwise, you may be picking up interference from somewhere. Cordless phones, speakers, even refrigerators can interefere with wireless connections.
